Past Editions: Cerealia 2022 – The Cereal Festival

“Sowing the Future: Food Education and Environmental Awareness for Young Generations”

Guest Country: The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan
Focus on Pseudocereals (Buckwheat, Amaranth, Quinoa, Chia)

The 12th edition of the festival took place from June 9 to July 9 and from September 15 to October 31, 2022, with a dedication to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, anticipating the hosting of this country in one of the upcoming editions. The extensive program included in-person, hybrid, and online activities.
Jordan was also featured in November during events held in Amman and Aqaba as part of the International Week of Italian Cuisine in the World, promoted by MAECI, in which the Cerealia Festival has participated since 2018 as a member of the stakeholder table.
The festival’s events, held in 7 Italian regions (Lombardy, Lazio, Puglia, Piedmont, Campania, Sicily, Calabria), explored and interpreted the main theme of food education and environmental awareness for young generations during the European Year of Youth 2022, highlighting the festival’s educational and outreach dimension.
Among the international activities, the event “Design for Co-Participation and Food Community Engagement” was held as part of the first New European Bauhaus (NEB) Festival, in collaboration with The Fork, featuring contributions from Italy, Spain, Portugal, Morocco, and Jordan.
Several events also focused on cultural and scientific deepening, including the final interdisciplinary conference in Rome, dedicated to the study of pseudocereals (buckwheat, amaranth, quinoa, chia), promoted by CREA, FIDAF, and INSOR.
Most festival activities were free to attend.
