Past Editions: Cerealia 2013 – The Cereal Festival
“Cereals Between Taste and Well-being” Regions Involved: Lazio and Sardinia
The 3rd edition of the festival was promoted by M.Th.I., ArcheoClub d’Italia – Rome branch, and Creare e Comunicare, in collaboration with the Embassy of Greece in Italy and Città dell’Altra Economia.
The 2013 program was centered in Rome with numerous initiatives held in prestigious locations such as Palazzo Valentini, the National Roman Museum at the Baths of Diocletian, the National Etruscan Museum at Villa Giulia, the Città dell’Altra Economia at the former slaughterhouse, the ISMA (Istituto di S. Maria in Aquiro) at the Colosseum, and the Appia Antica Regional Park.
Cerealia’s activities extended beyond Rome, with additional events in Lazio (Ariccia, Albano, Rieti, Tarquinia) and Sardinia.
The program began with pre-festival events titled “Waiting for Cerealia”:
Sunday, May 19: guided tour of the Sepolcro di Eurisace and Mulino Pantanella near Porta Maggiore. Organized by Vita Romana, founded by Barbara Fabiani.
Friday, May 31 at Palazzo Valentini, Sala Egon von Fürstenberg: opening of the photographic exhibition “Hellenic Landscapes” by Costas Vergas, Leica Academy. Exhibition curated by Arianna Di Pietro. Aperitif by the restaurant Akropolis. The exhibition ran until June 9, 2013. Organized by the Embassy of Greece in Italy, M.Th.I., and the Province of Rome.
Other highlights included:
All’Hora Felix, “Bibe Cervogiam!”: a journey through the history of beer from Asterix to Homer Simpson, with tastings of selected craft beers from Lazio. Organized by D.O.L. (Di Origine Laziale) and Vita Romana.
Monday, June 10, at DOOZO Art, “CAKE – Art & Sweets”: presentation of a cookbook combining recipes and art, curated by Manuela De Leonardis. This editorial project supported the Bait al Karama Cookery School, the first international Palestinian cooking school recognized by Slow Food, founded by the women of Nablus (led by Fatima Khaddoumi) together with Italian collaborators Cristina Bottigella and Beatrice Catanzaro. Organized by M.Th.I. and Panella l’Arte del Pane.
