Solstice at Parco Romano – The Tree Festival

“Solstice at Parco Romano – Tree Festival,” at the Parco Romano Biodistrict (Ariccia), June 22, 2025

Sunday, June 22, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. until sunset, the event “Solstice at Parco Romano – Festival of the Trees” will take place at Parco Romano Biodistrict (Ariccia) (Piazzale dei Daini, 1), under the patronage of the Botanical Garden of the University of Tor Vergata, the Castelli Romani Regional Park, and the Municipality of Ariccia, as part of “Waiting for Cerealia Festival 2025.”
At 11:00 a.m. the “Baptism of the Trees” will be held, dedicated with gratitude to Marco Casella, founder and creator of the Mercati Contadini Roma e Castelli Romani network. A symbolic and participatory ceremony celebrating the connection between nature, culture, myth, and spirituality: an event combining botanical outreach, Greco-Roman female mythology, performing arts, and storytelling to honor the deep bond between human beings and the plant world. During the ceremony, thirteen centuries-old trees will be “baptized” through the installation of special educational signs created with the support of the Botanical Garden of the University of Tor Vergata.
The ceremony will be enriched by ancient dance performances and readings in collaboration with the associations Music Theatre International – M.Th.I. ETS and Divae Camenae – Danze Antiche. Special thanks to Prof. Roberto Braglia, Dr. Eva Castrucci, and Dr. Paola Sarcina for their passion and dedication in bringing this project to life.
