Festival Structure

Presentation: Festival Structure

Cerealia is an annual cultural festival with an international scope and nationwide reach.
Its core themes include: culture and society, economy, food and gastronomy, environment and territory, landscape and tourism, collective identities, and shared memories.

Each year, the programme of activities is developed through the contribution of content and initiatives by the executive producer and the various partners involved, and may include: seminars and workshops on cultural, scientific and economic topics; performances and historical re-enactments; meetings and conferences; tastings and themed menus; experiential walks and gastronomic tours; guided visits and exhibitions; educational workshops for adults and children.
Target audiences: a) local, national and international institutions;
b) the business community;
c) the media community;
d) the education and training sector;
e) local communities, domestic and international tourists.

For the Cerealia Festival, the organisational structure follows a glocal and national model, in which organisers work in collaboration with the national governments of the Mediterranean area. The Festival adopts a “light” organisational structure, based on the autonomous yet coordinated action of each partner within the Festival Network. Organisers and promoters therefore operate as an informal cultural network, where cooperation is aimed at achieving a single shared objective among the various public and private stakeholders involved.
The organisations that join the Cerealia Festival Network or participate annually as partners contribute their tangible and intangible know-how to the project in terms of content, facilities and/or human resources. All participants work in synergy and coordination with the Festival’s executive producer, sharing decisions on content, thematic and geographical focus, as well as the management of processes and relationships. Responsibilities are distributed so that activities are carried out at local, national and international level. This balanced and flexible combination of glocal and national approaches enhances the value of local specificities in the Festival’s management across the territories involved, strengthening the relationship between each promoter or partner and their local context, as well as with any guest country participating in the programme.
Cerealia therefore operates as a participatory festival, promoting the values of the collaborative economy (sharing economy), with each network member or partner independently organising initiatives within their own territory while maintaining financial and managerial autonomy.
The organisers are also committed to delivering an environmentally sustainable event with a low ecological impact.

Executive production and overall coordination of the Festival are managed by Music Theatre International – M.Th.I. ETS, a cultural association based in Rome.

The aim of ODA was to promote a collective reflection on the relationship between science and society by involving all stakeholders within the food system: knowledge producers, economic operators, knowledge mediators, decision-makers and civil society. To date, more than one hundred stakeholders have joined ODA, including representatives of public and private organisations as well as private citizens. http://www.fidaf.it/index.php/osservatorio-dialogo-nell-agroalimentare/
