The Fest of Grains 2014

IV EDITION - 6-9 JUNE 2014

Cerealia IV edition was organized by M.Th.I., ArcheoClub of Italy- Rome , in collaboration with the Embassy of the Republic of Cyprus in Italy, the National Association of Cypriots in Italy NIMA and the Ministry of Energy, Commerce, Industry and Tourism of Cyprus. The dedication of 2014 edition to Cyprus – which in celebrated its 10 years anniversary in the EU – want to illustrate which has always been the vocation of the island: to be a meeting point for men from different horizons, and for over fourteen millennia the land where the West and the East has met, sometimes clashed, but often integrated harmoniously. The island has developed its civilization as an integral part of the Mediterranean world, thanks to its ability to use its various natural resources with mutually beneficial interrelations with its neighbors. Cyprus has been described as the “Island of Aphrodite” (goddess that Cerealia has specially celebrated this year), because many  millennia before the arrival of the Greeks, its territory hosted the cult of a great Mediterranean deity, “Mother Earth”, who had identical characteristics in common with the Goddess of Love of the Hellenic peoples. The festival was held in Rome, Lazio, Altino (Venice), Puglia. We thank all the public and private organizations that have supported the festival and have contributed to its realization.
